» Everyday Musings: Versions

Here’s a song I love no matter what.

It was originally written by Ben Gibbard for his other band The Postal Service. I guess no matter how much change an artist does, or how an artist interprets the song, it’s the message which still stays and has the greatest impact on me. So here I’ll just give you versions of the song and you take your pick.

Here’s the original version by The Postal Service

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Ben Folds, well this is a great opportunity for you get to know him. This dude…he has some serious skills. And seriously, awesome gig.

For the instrumental enthusiasts

Cover by Streetlight Manifesto, a New Found Glory contemporary.

Iron and Wine’s version was actually the first version I heard thanks to the movie Garden State.

It’s refreshing to hear a woman do a cover of this song. For those of you who are fans of The Voice then I’m sure you’re familiar with Dia Frampton
